Installing Shower Doors

Shower doors can introduce a great change in your bathroom and
transform your existing bathroom in to something new and
exciting. A shower door can greatly enhance the functionality of
your bathroom and make a great difference in the way you use
your bathroom space. Not only do shower doors confine the wet
area of the bathroom to a restricted space but it also helps
keep the bathroom clean and dry. This means that by simply
installing a shower door you will be able to save yourself a lot
of work. You will not have to take the pains of drying your
bathroom every time some one takes a bath which can be pretty
irritating at times. In addition to that, a shower door saves
you the cost of installing an entire shower cubicle.

You can
simply convert the existing space that is both functional and
aesthetic.

The first step to installing a shower door is cutting the
track. You can do this by measuring the edges of the door itself
and then cutting the track according to that using a hacksaw.
You can do this pretty easily and make sure that you keep the
track 1/16" shorter than the actual size of the door. This
ensures that the door fits in snugly and is secure in its place.
If your shower has rounded corners then you will have to round
the edges of the door by filing the corners. The next step to
installing your shower door is to make the tracks and the rails
secure in their position. Make sure you place them right because
once you fix them into place it will be a tough job removing
them and re fixing them again. Make sure that all the tracks and
he rails are level and that all of them fit perfectly. You just
need to invest some time at this step to ensure that the
foundation for your structure is laid well.

The next thing to do is to make holes for fitting in the jambs
in the curb. After you have made the holes remove the jambs and
the curbs. Then you have to drill in holes at the positions
where you want to fit in the wall anchors. This may require a
bit of an effort and you may also need to remove the tiling a
bit so that the holes are perfectly straight and are easier to
make. The caulk comes next and while applying it you need to
make sure that the weep holes on the track are kept on the
inside of the shower. They are meant for draining and hence this
is very important and an essential and crucial step. Then you
need to install the headers into place. Put in the headers one
by one and then it is time to install the rollers. The rollers
just have to be screwed in and there is nothing else that needs
to be done. Then the doors need to be hung and finally you have
to finish the installation process by providing the minor but
essential finishing touches.
