Are Metal Roofs The Right Choice For Your Home?
metal roofs are rapidly gaining popularity and although they have many advantages, they cost almost 30% more than regular asphalt or shingle roofs. Whether metal roofs are the right choice for your home or not depends on various situations and conditions. To better understand this point, it is important to learn about various features of metal roofs so that you can determine how beneficial these features are for your home.
1. Energy Efficient
One of the most commonly miss-understood features of metal roofs is its energy efficiency. Metal roofs due to their reflective nature reflect most of the sun’s UV rays and thus help to keep your home cool during hot days of the summer. Therefore, it is important to note that homes located in hot regions benefit most from this thermal efficiency as it can significantly lower electricity bill by allowing homeowners not to run their air conditioning at all times. Homeowners living in cooler regions may not benefit as much from this thermal efficiency
Metal roofs do not have any R-Value (According to Wikipedia: "R-Value is a measure of thermal resistance used in the building and construction industry. The bigger the number, the better the building insulation's effectiveness"). Another words R-Value is the indication of how much insulation is provided. A good insulation is important as it can keep your home warm during cold winter days. Even though metal roofs do not have any R-Value, insulation can be added to metal roofs so that your home does not loose heat during winter times.
2. Light Weight
One of the advantages of using metal roofs is that most forms of metal roofs are light weight, and therefore easily transportable
3. Fire Resistant
Most insurance companies are happy to hear homeowners use metal roofs (in some cases insurance companies may also lower your premium) due to the fact that metal roofs are known to be fire retardant.
4. Withstand Strong Winds
Metal roofs may also be ideal in areas where there are strong winds or tropical storms. If properly installed metal roofs can withstand the high winds of tropical storms and are not blown away.
5. Installed Over Existing Roof
Another advantage of using metal roofs is that it can be installed on top of the existing roof, and thus it is labor efficient. However, it is important to note that metal roofs need to be painted and polished which may out due some of the said cost savings.
6. Durability
Metal roofs are known for their durability. Where most roofs can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, metal roof are said to last any where from 50 to 100 years if proper maintenance is carried out. Metal roofs unlike other types of roofs do not rot and are not impacted by termites.
Based on your climate conditions and how long you intend to live in your home, you may benefit from using metal roofs. Before deciding on any type of roofing system, it is wise to check with your local municipality, insurance companies, and tax office to learn about their recommendations as well as to find out if there is any incentives, rebates, grants, etc for using any particular roofing systems. Some municipalities and insurance companies may lower your taxes and insurance should you decide to use metal roofs.

Childproof your home office
Working from home is great for people with kids, but the only problem is keeping the kids out of the room and keeping them from causing havoc amongst your important papers and leaving sticky hand prints all over your books and computer.
There is also the danger aspect, as younger children could hurt themselves while exploring your home office, so it’s important to make sure that your home office spaces are as child, and also pet, safe as possible.
Start by packing away all the small bits and pieces like paper clips, rubber bands, glue and thumb tacks. This seemingly innocuous item could prove hazardous, even fatal, to small children.
Secure everything that could topple over on your child and secure corner cushions to office furniture’s dangerous edges.
Secure all electrical cords and wires in and near the office. These can be taped or stapled down as close to walls as possible to decrease the chance that people will trip over them, or pets will chew them.
Cover all the electrical output points, as you would in the rest of the house when you have a baby or toddler on the loose.
Move you PC and its tower to higher ground to protect it from sticky hands or the possibility of having something jammed into the disk drive.
Use your computer's security features; get in the habit of logging off so no one can use the computer without logging in. Children will bash the keys on your keyboard if the screen responds, and even if it doesn’t, so don’t leave your documents in an accessible mode.
Most home insurance or business insurance policies don’t pay out for damage called by your own children, so childproof what you can, and find yourself a good business and home insurance provider.

Kitchen remodeling
Failure is a key to success. One needs to be severely cheated to understand how to avoid it. These are axioms that smart people try making use of. It is advisable to listen to those who have been duped in one course of life or other.
Kitchen is the mouthpiece of the house. It speaks through the variety of food it generates. Of course that depends on the mood of the cook. For that, a fresh, new and clean kitchen is required.
Kitchen remodeling is a concept that has grown with the emergence of real estate in a big way. Nowadays, people buy homes after ensuring that the bathroom and kitchen is great. Even a great looking house with average looking kitchen gets a bad mark. The human psyche is such; especially women.
Kitchen remodeling contractors are there to turn your kitchen swanky. They do the flooring for you. They install appropriate lighting. The plumbing and the electrical appliances are well corded. They also attribute a new look to the cabinetry. The faucet shines and so does the stove carrier. There is hidden ample space for the cylinders.
The contractors also ensure that the windows are well placed. If there is no structure originally, they create the space. The ventilation is as important as the exhaust fan in the kitchen.
The appliances are all within working distance. The whole infrastructure should resemble an office cubicle. It would hurt if the PC and the cabinet would be far off. That is the logic in the kitchen too.
The kitchen remodeling contractors should be bona fide. They sometimes do the job half heartedly. Of course you won’t make it out in the first few months or so, but then on fine day you see a structure collapsing or a clean fracture in the flooring. It is best to learn from those having been cheated online or on other scopes. Their experience is gold dust.
You should check whether there is a warranty period or not. Other modalities related to timing and what you want should be stated. There should not be any folly at least on your part.
To shirk off their unprofessional attitude (though that is infrequent to say the truth), you may do the job yourself. The help of a relative or a friend is enough to tide the bearings. The use of tools should be methodical and so should the measurements. It should be time bound work. If you feel like you cannot carry it, you can still call the professionals.
The space in the kitchen should be used well. The cooking takes some space and often there r more than one doing the cooking. Then the cleaning of utensils should have a separate sink area that is far off from cooking to erase infection. The space should not look muddled up. There should be only that much cabinetry as the space requires.
If you have the extra money, you can even go for the designer crockery and appliances. The ones that meet the new kitchen color. The old ones may be sold or exchanged.
